See Why Drivers Love the 2022 Ford F-150
Experience, durability, versatility, and adaptability are all bywords for the fabled F-series of trucks. The 2022 Ford F-150 is no exception. The latest version of the seminal Ford truck is an ideal servant for family and vacation use, as well as any number of business purposes, including towing and hauling cargo. Whatever you have in mind, the F-150 has your back.
2022 Ford F-150 Basics
The Ford F-Series has been on American roads for longer than most people reading this article. Taking over from the Ford Pickup in 1948, the F-150 has been setting standards for light-duty full-size pickups for nearly three-quarters of a century. With that many miles logged and jobs done, it’s no surprise that Ford offers an F-150 tailored to virtually any purpose, from fleet use to construction, to farming and ranching, hauling boats and livestock, or simply romping in the mud.
The 2022 F-150 comes in nine trim levels, including the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited, Lightning, Tremor, and Raptor. The XL and XLT are best suited for urban work and commutes, while the Lariat and King Ranch are geared for rural tasks. The Platinum and Limited offer more comfort for long-distance trips, while the Lightning, Tremor, and Raptor will happily take you where roads cannot.
The Lightning joined the F-150 family this spring, offering a more affordable leisure and sport-oriented pickup to the Ford lineup. Additionally, the Bed Utility package with tailgate step and locking cleat-style tie-downs is now optional on the XL, XLT, Lariat, and Tremor packages while coming standard with the King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited. Finally, a striking monochromatic “Black Appearance” theme is available for XL, XLT, Lariat, and Platinum trims, with Atlas Blue joining the F-150 paint palette for all versions.
While a 10-speed automatic transmission drives every F-150, five different engines are available, including the 290-horsepower 3.3 liter V-6; the 325-hp, twin-turbocharged 2.7-ltr V-6; the 400-hp 5.0-ltr V-8; the 400-hp, twin-turbocharged 3.5-ltr V-6; and the 250-hp 3.0-ltr diesel. On the green side, Ford now offers a hybrid powertrain combining the 400-hp twin-turbocharged 3.5-ltr V-6 with a 35-kilowatt electric motor. New owners can choose between rear and four-wheel drive with all powertrain options.
Depending on the powertrain, you can expect your F-150’s maximum towing capacity to fall between 8,200 and 14,000 pounds (12,700 lbs for the hybrid) and payload to range from 1,840 to 3,250 lbs.
The F-150 cab offers space and comfort at every trim level. You can choose an 8.0, or 12.0-inch touchscreen command center that runs on Ford’s new Sync 4 OS. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard features, with navigation, wi-fi hotspot, and Sirius XM radio, and Bang & Olufsen speakers optional.
Whatever work and leisure challenges await you, the 2022 F-150 is the ideal light-duty, full-size pickup to take them on. Schedule your test drive at Performance Ford of East Hanover now.
